    New York, New York!

Well, as I have mentioned, I went to New York very recently for 5 days with the graphic design course with my university. I have been before around 4 years ago, but this time we were pretty much free to do what we wanted to do and go where we wanted to go as well as have 1 or 2 design studio visits whilst we were out there. I was lucky enough to go to both of the ones that I wanted to go to, Interbrand and Pentagram. It was so inspiring to see the environments that they work in there as well as the incredible location of being in New York, both along 5th Avenue. We were shown their work and we were able to ask questions if we wanted to, which made the trip even more worthwhile. Being a little older now and as a design student, I definitely noticed more and appreciated New York for what it was, the glamorous and not so glamorous compared to last time, just taking in the atmosphere and finding myself looking up constantly thinking how incredible the architecture was, with the sights, sounds and smells a fest for the senses. We went to MoMa, which was definitely something I wanted to do whilst out there, which had a great mix of some classic artwork which was brilliant to see up close as well as some modern less well-known works that I was unaware of. Unfortunately, not being 21 whilst there, I couldn’t experience the true New York at night, but that didn’t matter as walking around during the day and seeing as many things as possible was very tiring as there is a LOT of ground to cover, with a few trips on the Subway and cab rides too, but it’s all part of the experience..Plus of course some shopping too!
